The Geography of the Premier League

Geography is absolutely massive in the Premier League. The most obvious example of Geography would be the Stadiums and where they are situated. In the case of Southampton and Newcastle the distance would be over 450 km as compared to the short journey of just under a kilometre between Anfield and Goodison Park. One of the strangest geography facts in the ENGLISH Premier League is that 10% of the teams aren't from England. With both Swansea and Cardiff situated in South Wales. Recently BBC sport brought out an article related to Premier League Geography. They referred to foreign players in the league and how it is now only one third English. One of the most interesting facts in this article was at how 60% of minutes completed in the Premier League are by foreign players. In 2006 Arsenal fielded a completely foreign 16 man squad. The first time this had happened in the League. I think there is one statistic that really shows the foreign influence on the league. No English manager has ever won the ENGLISH Premier League. This statistic looks like it will continue with just 4 English managers, none of which are currently in the top 4.

The 2013/2014 EPL season so far.

This season has been one of the most exciting and intriguing season to date. There is a big contrast between the positions of certain teams in comparison to last year. One example is last years champions Manchester United (Manchester) currently in 6th position in comparison to 1st this time last year. Another notable change is Liverpool (Liverpool) who are currently 2nd after finishing 7th last time around. The standout player for this season has been Liverpool's Luis Suarez (Uruguay), the striker has already scored 24 BPL goals despite being banned for the first 6 games. He also tops the BPL assist category setting team mates up on 10 occasions so far. This season (at both ends) is shaping up to be one of the tightest and most exciting to date, with any one of 4 teams in with a shout for the title and any four of six with a chance of getting one of those all-important top 4 places.
